Yeah, I have no excuses other than the usual suspects: kids, job, and oral surgery. Okay, the last one might be not so usual, but I will still claim it.
I just want to give a shout out to a couple of amazing others.
#1--Cynthia Hand! Yes, I am so excited to get to read a completed copy of Hallowed very soon. January!!!
#2--Michelle Hodkin! I read your wonderful, amazing book, and as soon as I remember how, it's going on a list!! I can't wait to find out what happens to Mara. Oh, and I am spreading my excitement to a BUNCH of teenagers/teachers of teenagers.
#3--Lilith Saintcrow! You just rock, and I am so excited to read all of the many books that I have of yours to read.
#4--Kim Derting! Really? April? Can't wait that long for the next Body Finder!!! I love your work, and I must finish reading The Pledge.
Okay. Small amount of guilt relieved. I shall go and work on revisions and hope to join your ranks soon enough. Maybe. If I don't suck . . . .

Been Hiding Out
So, eventually, I will learn how to be a real blogger, right?
Since I have been working on writing another fun story and also working on WORK, I have not much to say. But I promise another list soon. Oh yes . . .

Book Buying Frenzy
Okay. I know that I have a problem. There are SO many books that are sitting in my "to read" pile right now. You would think that buying a Nook would have made my actual book buying slow down, and I would be wasting too much time on the electronic versions.
Sadly, this is not the case.
So many things are too interesting. Did I mention I have a book-buying problem?
That's all for today, but I will attempt to write more in the coming weeks, now that school is over.

Lists and Overlaps
So, I am well aware that there are now overlaps in my lists, but there are some books just worthy of being in more than one category. As I add more, I am sure this will occur more.
Just a brief note today. Busy trying to finish off this school year.

A Review--First One, So Don't Laugh
I thought I would spend a moment to tell you about a book that rocks. Before I start, I should say I do have a slight bias toward the author. After all, we've been friends for over twenty years, and she is probably one of the most amazing and strong people I know.
With that in mind, I want to throw my two cents into the reviewing world.
Unearthly by Cynthia Hand is a great book. Hands down, one of the best I've read in a long time. It has romance. It has laughs. It has fun. It has drama. (Not too much. I would run away if there were too much.) It has Clara, who is a great example of the ups and downs teenagers go through. It has Tucker. I will leave that there with a very happy sigh.
The best part about Unearthly is that it is appropriate for younger teens. I know that there are a lot of books out there marketed to young adults, but I can say from experience that I wouldn't put them out on the shelf for my sophomore and freshman students. Without hesitation, I would share, and have shared, Unearthly with all of my students.
Okay, enough said. Other than, READ IT! Seriously.

Time for a Real Post
As I venture into this blogging thing, I realize that I should actually try to make a blog. So, here goes.
I am going to dedicate this blog to interesting things about books. Why, you ask? Well, because aside from my job and my family, which take up 99.9% of my time, books are my next big thing. With that in mind, I shall share some insight on some of the things I read.
Not today. Too much to do . . .
But . . .
Forthcoming, I shall make a list of must reads, broken into categories.
However, I shall make one big recommendation right now. If you are book lover, you should check out www.goodreads.com. Yes. You should. Because it is an awesome site. Also, it's a great way to share your reading loves with friends. Oh, and find books that you never thought you'd want to read. It's like social networking, but with books! (Yeah, I actually spend way more time on Goodreads than I do on Facebook.)
So, go check it out!

Week 2 Think 3
So, this first post is just me figuring out this whole blogging thing. Never done it before. It's amazing what you get to learn when you are introduced to things at in-services.
What can I say? I am finding this interesting and probably a challenging thing to keep up with after. After all, I spend most of my time teaching other people the joys (and sorrows) of math. What time I'm not here teaching, I am with my most beautiful children and my great husband. Of course, every once in a while, I get a chance to read.
But there will be more about that later . . .
